Final Copy
Members present: Martin White, Walt Miller, Larry Breckenridge, Mark Deleva, Laura Silva, Chair, Gino Santabarbara, Town Planner, Maryann Murphy, Secretary
This meting was held on behalf of Princetown for the Mud Pond Subdivision consisting of a 17 lot Subdivision adjacent to Mariaville Lake. Princetown would like The Board to look over the plans and voice any concerns that may affect Duanesburg.
Mark Deleva: "It would be best for the Subdivision to be made to hook into the town sewer system."
Larry Breckenridge: "Yes I agree we should strongly suggest they hook the Subdivision into the sewer system."
Laura Silva: "How big are these houses"?
Martin White: "What affect would the septic have on Mud Pond if they did not hook up to the sewer system?"
Gino Santabarbara: "The County has not yet been sent the plans for the subdivision, nor has a Public Hearing been set."
Laura Silva: "Our largest concern is the affect the subdivision will have on Mariaville Lake."
Walt Miller: "How much sewage will come from each of these houses"
Gino Santabarbara: "We have yet to be made aware of that."
Larry Breckenridge: "They did do three preliminary percolation holes to determine ground absorption."
Laura Silva: "We really cannot comment on the proposal as a whole, we have just been asked to comment on the affects it may have on The Town of Duanesburg. Why is there an emergency access road"
Larry Breckenridge: "There is a pre-existing path located on the property."
Gino Santabarbara: "They are proposing to extend the path all the way through the subdivision. The path is currently made of dirt used by snowmobiles." "Right now they are going through the preliminary approval process and proposing variances for the shared driveways.
Martin White: "One of the issues as well would be the amount of nutrients draining into the lake from the houses in the subdivision."
Gino Santabarbara: "Yes, essentially."
Laura Silva: "We can only voice our concerns on the project."
Laura Silva (to the audience): "Well, this isn't a public hearing but we would like to hear your thoughts on the project."
The audiences main concerns were that all of the runoff from the newly built houses would go into the lake. Another concern was that contamination from lawn fertilizers and any other home maintenance and daily activity such as driving a vehicle and parking of the vehicles would run into the lake therefor possibly contaminating the lake. Other concerns from the audience were how the school district would be able to handle possible new children brought in by the new houses and the school buses entering the development to pick up the children.
Martin White: "Most certainly we recommend hooking all the new houses up to the public septic."
Mariaville Lake's sewer capacity is only running at 50% and would easily be able to run with the new houses hooked up.
Laura Silva: "Duanesburg would like to be kept in the process, and will make comments to Princetown on what we would like to see."
